Heart Rate Varibility (HRV) instruments have become affordable due to
advances in computer technology. Our HRV monitor is a simple earlobe sensor that
connects by USB to a PC. All power is provided by the PC, so when used with a
laptop computer, the monitor is portable.
The monitor includes PC software that performs the following functions:
It determines the heartbeat from the
variation in skin color and translucence that occurs at every heartbeat.
It calculates the time between heartbeats and from that, the number of
heartbeats per minute (BPM).
It displays the BPM on a moving graph.
It calculates the frequency spectrum by FFT and displays the frequency bands.
The data is saved and can be recalled and graphed again.
