finally checking in

Hi Everyone,

It has been too long since I checked in. I'm sorry to have missed the past two days. I've still been practicing meditation but haven't had a minute to log on and write to you. I just picked up some temporary work helping a friend who launched a new business doing faux finishes on walls. She has a huge project and needs all the help she can get. This has turned into some long days of hard labor for me. It is satisfying but it is also wreaking havoc on my daily schedule!

As for my progress, I'm still trying to maintain a rhythmic breath. It is pretty hard to do but I have achieved it to some degree. Today has been really bad ... I feel like I just can't get a good breath. I don't have asthma - and don't know what is the problem. Maybe it's the paint chemicals I've been breathing. The better news is that I have changed my method of breating according to Puran's suggestion in the Swinging Breath Room... thanks Puran, it has helped tremendously.

Another issue arose within the last week and it seems to be preventing me from enjoyable meditation sessions. I'm worried about a situation in my life - a relationship. It consumes too much of my mind and is in the way of my meditation. I know meditation is supposed to be the place where we work through these types of issues but I can't get past letting go of the worry long enough to really get into the meditation practice. I'm trying to work through it and just keep at it. I'm at a frustrating point right now.

Reading all of your messages helps me tremendously. I feel so inspired after reading through the boards! Thank you everyone! I am heading up to Lake Tahoe for the weekend but am bringing my laptop with me. I hope to have access to the web so that I can get back into the groove here.

Looking foward to writing again soon.

With Love, (Name)

Relationships

Hi (First Name),

Your description of your situation seemed to strike a chord somewhere in me... Relationships. I feel like I have to purge my gut here or something, lol.. I don't think I've been in a relationship the past 7-8 yrs. When I hear about other people's problems with their relationships I like cringe or something. It's just like I feel like I can be of no help. It's like a sore spot in my life. I felt like I needed to respond to this message, instead of just going on and reporting about my experiences with my meditations.

So here it is, I'm trying to open up my sore to the world, in hopes of reconciliation?

I don't know if any of that above made sense. As far as meditation went today, I sat twice for 20 min., but was 3 or 4 hours late in each. I had a bunch of experiences this morning to write about but alas I waited too long and forgot them. In this evening's meditation I didn't think I would be able to sit for 20 minutes. As I was about to give up 5 or 10 minutes in, I consciously tried to become aware of my heartbeat/pulse. After I did that, it seemed relatively easy to sit the remaining time patiently.

with love,

to (First Name) and (Second Name): relationship issues during meditation

Dear (First Name), you said, "I'm worried about a situation in my life - a relationship. It consumes too much of my mind and is in the way of my meditation."

Your relationship is supremely important and likely contains key energies and insights that you need for your heart's development. So instead of considering your heart's concerns to be a distraction, make them the theme of your meditation.

As you swing your breath and complete your breath, think about your heart the way you would think about a dear friend. Listen to its complaints and fears. Feel it.

Your relationship with your heart is a model for your relationship with others. You can practice and prepare for the relationship you desire right here, right now, in your Heart Rhythm Meditation.

When you become accomplished at relating to your heart, you will be able to easily relate to the heart of another, and that is most attractive. You will be capable of a deeper and more meaningful relationship. You'll want a relationship with someone who also relates to their heart. Your appreciation for the qualities of others will increase and change. In short, you will be capable of a better relationship than you were capable of before, and you'll be more aware of the hearts of others.

It is your heart that is so attractive to others and your heart will attract your beloved from across the globe if necessary.

(First Name), you say you have a relationship, so consider in your meditation how your partner nourishes and softens your heart (in-breath) and how you nourish and soften your partner's heart (out-breath). When you're together, do this facing each other. Then afterwards, take some time to speak from your hearts to each other. The openness in your heart will allow you to be completely vulnerable and accepting and generous and forgiving.

It's a wonder that people can sustain a relationship over years without a method for consciously touching their hearts. Too often, the relationship is maintained out of fear. You won't settle for that kind of relationship, so you have to develop the skills and tools necessary to keep the relationship heart-centered.

With love, Puran
