When people aggravate us we ridicule their point-of-view, imagining them to be stupid or unreasonable. The last thing we want is to see things the way that awful person sees them -- that seems like taking a mental poison! Yet people are rarely stupid or unreasonable; we brand them that to insulate ourselves from their thinking. Thinking can be right or wrong, but the heart can only be right. We deprive ourselves of wisdom by closing our minds, and worse, the belittling of another closes our heart.

Webcourse 101: Heart Rhythm MeditationWe want to share with you what one of the people in Hafiz's webcourse wrote to the rest of the participants. And we'd like to invite you to join the next Webcourse 101 in Heart Rhythm Meditation starting May 1. The webcourse is an experience of the heart that changes lives. The webcourse is described here. Hi Hafiz and Everyone! I avoided meditating today until just a little while ago. I found a million reasons not to meditate because my meditations have felt so powerful, and I wanted to put myself on "pause" today. Yet something in me knew that a very deep insight wanted to present itself to me, and that I had to meditate for that to happen. So, I did, and would like to share the following with you. I have noticed some shifts in process in my life lately. The wounds are healing. The old patterns are dropping away. I'm waking up to new and more accurate perceptions of myself, my relationship with others, with this existence, etc. And although this process began long before I started to do HRM, I feel that it is HRM that has allowed these shifts to actualize at this particular time. Day after day since our webcourse began, I've been writing about my experiences. It has been painful sometimes, with my various fears, doubts, anxieties, etc. arising. Yet I knew I needed to continue expressing myself and asking whatever questions I had. And, day after day I was replied to by Hafiz (and the other class members, too) with respect, compassion, acceptance, non-judment, and validation of my experience. Throughout my whole life, until the past five years, there have been significant others and living situations who taught me to doubt myself, hate myself, and live in fear. I was taught to NOT trust my experience, not believe in myself, and not respect or accept myself. I was judged, criticized and humiliated if my experience and/or expression was not in alignment with their reality. So, all I can say is THANK YOU a million times and more for believing in me and allowing me to simply be who I am, day by day, moment by moment. I think that's it for now. |
Whirling Around the HeartWhirling is a re-creation of the solar system where each participant turns in a rhythmic and balanced spin as a planet orbiting the sun. Divined by Rumi, “The Turn” creates an ecstatic emotion and, according to the right-hand rule of electromagnetics, forms vortexes of energy to unite heaven and earth in the heart. The Turn, to the music of Bach, will be taught to all as a rare opportunity to participate in this sacred ritual. Led by Puran and Susanna Bair.
